Time to give it another shot...

After much encouragement from some of my coworkers, I've decided to start blogging about some of the crafts and other projects I have going on. I get asked how things turned out all of the time, and I never seem to have pictures. So, in an effort to centralize the results of my labors, I am going to start posting them here. Cross your fingers that I can actually keep up with it all!

Let's start with an idea I borrowed from someone else, and I just happen to have a picture on my phone of the finished product.

So many fun, bright, and cute projects! So inspiring! I look at her collection of yarn and think to myself, "How does one have enough money to buy so much wonderful yarn? I know, I need to get sponsored by a yarn, textile, or craft company!" Seriously. I do. If anyone knows how, let me know! For now, I'll just have to keep buying them with what spending money I can manage.

Back to the subject at hand. The "Ruffly Blooming Flower Pillow"! It was easy for the most part. It was based on a pattern from the 1930s or 1940s, so the directions aren't terribly clear, but easy enough to figure out with a little experience and practice. (Although, somehow I managed to get off in the counting somewhere... probably because I picked it up and set it down so many times during the process.) If people want the pattern, let me know and I'll post the link to it.

Ok, enough talking/typing/aimless rambling. Here's the finished product:

I think it turned out pretty cute. Now I'm working on a coordinating blanket to go with it-- my first afghan! We'll see how it goes. So far, it's pretty cute. Although, I think it looks like an easter egg at times. And then other times I wonder if it will ever be finished. We'll see. I'll be working on other projects at the same time, so I'll have things to post between then and now.
